We are currently resourcing for a Network Design Consultant on a permanent basis in Central London.

This is a great opportunity to work within a leading technology consultancy. As the Network Design Consultant, you will primarily focus on providing Network consultancy advisory services, detailed designs, cost estimates and construction administration services in relation to the delivery of ICT Network systems including; LAN, WLAN, Network Security, Firewalls, WAN and network management solutions.
Role & responsibilities:- Liaise and confidently influence project stakeholders and the ability to work across a number of projects and coordinate internally with other technology design disciplines. Leading client engagements and an in-depth understanding of how projects are run within the RIBA project framework are essential.

- Securing and developing long term customer relationships

- Development of designs, reports, specifications, budgets and equipment schedules in line with RIBA Stages
- Defining the relevant network technologies to meet the client business, operational and performance requirements
- Identify the network services that the customer requires to be deployed, e.g. LAN, WLAN.
- Define and detail how each technology will be used, who will be the main users, the expected number of users or specific user groups and any other specific requirements that will drive the configuration of each systems design.
- Identify any systems or services that would be transported over and integrated with the network solutions (e.g. IoT devices, AV, Security BMS) and develop the network design as required.
- Assist in the development and drafting of Technical Specifications and drawings for all network related projects.
- Develop a budget/BoQ for the cost of hardware components, implementation of the system, and support/maintenance.
- Review and advise on operational, support, maintenance requirements.
- Ensure total awareness of project deliverables and ensure Blacktip adherence to agreed Scope of Works.
- Develop layout drawings showing device inter-connectivity, uplink data rates, VLAN and IP Schemas.
- Recommendations and design guideline development.
- Attendance of project meetings and client design workshops/presentations.
- Ensure proper evaluation and reporting of man-hours against project Scope of Works.
- Undertaking formal presentations – at presales stage in the form of formal tender interviews, design team members and to clients.
- Commissioning management, Witness testing, snagging and Reporting
- Preparation of design documentation and technical specifications
- Working with our Production Department in the preparation of technical drawings, schematics and design details
- Working remotely from the UK on projects throughout EMEA
- Travelling to site to conduct inspections and meetings throughout EMEA
- Interfacing with multiple client, partner and project teams throughout EMEA
Candidate qualifications and attributes:
- Knowledge of Local Area Network; traditional vs. fabric architectures, software defined networking, IPv4 & IPv6 design, IP multicast design, interior & exterior gateway protocol design (e.g. routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), macro & micro network segmentation (e.g. VRFs, VLANs, policy based access), QoS Schemas, network automation/orchestration & programmability, network management & monitoring.
- Good understanding of Wide Area Network; e.g. MPLS, SD-WAN, Public Cloud Integration (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP), Internet & Perimeter solutions.
- Wireless Technologies; 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) and previous standards (IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and emerging standards, segregation of wireless services (e.g. corporate SSIDs vs. guest & visitor access), RF coverage/interference/capacity planning & design, wireless controller design (on-premise and/or cloud), wireless authentication and encryption (e.g. WPA, WPA2 (AES), WPA3, 802.1X authentication, PSK, captive portal, etc.)

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting floor plans and technical drawings and specifications

- High level of IT literacy - Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat essential
- Ability to mark-up drawings for production by remote CAD technician
- Experience of attending and presenting at client or project interviews
- Understanding of design and construction process
- Experience working on high volume and high-speed projects
- Proficient in Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat Pro
